Storytelling with Billy Teare and Kathleen O’Sullivan

Billy Teare and Kathleen O’SullivanClare County Library presents two storytelling sessions on Thursday 26th August. The first session takes place in Kilkee Public Library at 3.30 pm and the second at 8pm in the DeValera Public Library in Ennis. The storytellers are Billy Teare and Kathleen O’Sullivan and the event is suitable for adults and families. Born in Ballycarry, storyteller Billy Teare now resides in Larne, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland. He has appeared on the big screen, stage, TV and radio in guises ranging from chicken hypnotist to jester. In the past thirty years, he has been a featured artist at all the major folk and storytelling festivals around the world, including the far reaches of the Yukon. He will be joined by Kathleen O’Sullivan, who is recognised as a fine exponent of traditional Irish singing, as well as being a witty, sometimes surreal wordsmith. Kathleen was the host for recitals of music by Celtic Women, held in Greenwich. She has had some of her poetry published in an anthology, along with other Irish women living in London, called Fresher than Green, Brighter than Orange, and more recently in Irish Lifelines. Together, Kathleen and Billy have gained a formidable international reputation as a story and song combination. Representing the finest aspects of the verbal arts, their work is an entertaining cultural treasure trove of stories, songs, poetry and music for all. The event is free in both libraries. Don’t miss it!
